***

Marget Maldonado’s journey with yoga started about 20 years ago when it became part of her daily practice of contemporary dance. At that moment, yoga contributed in the process of her becoming aware of her body’s movement and how to use that energy bi product of a balanced body to express it fluidly. Since then her interest for yoga has never stopped and this lead her to explore and learn different aspects of yoga. The spiritual practice became a big part of her life and it helped her understand yoga from a more internal and intuitive perspective.

She had the opportunity to be part of different trainings and experiences that were and have been the core of her understanding of yoga’s fundamentals. She attended meditation workshops where she learned Pranayama and relaxation techniques. She also worked with the Brahma Kumaris foundation to teach Raja yoga to different communities. She’s taken a diversity of classes with a variety of teachers with different backgrounds who showed her other approaches and perspectives that influenced her practice and personal teaching approach. She obtained her RYT 200 hours certificate in 2017 with the Yoga foundation of Fredericksburg lead by Steven Watkins and has been teaching for three years now. What she’d like for practitioners to experience during her class is a feeling of flowing, grounding, and the sensation of finding balance between body and mind to have an experience that they could possibly take with them and help them with their daily challenges.

Yoga Dance w/ Marger

The Fusion of Yoga and Dance is an uplifting, mind freeing experience; it is a powerful way to transform stress into a fun celebration of rhythms and cultures. The session is modeled for non-experienced dancers, and no yoga training or knowledge is needed. This concept has been shared and promoted all over the world for more than 20 years, bringing together and blending fitness, dance, and the relaxation of yoga in a very harmonic way. All you need is the will to try a new way of relaxation in a fun environment to express your body’s movement — to just try to let go and smile. Be ready to leave your troubles at the door, reconnect with your body’s moves, flow with the music, relax, find the connection between breathing and movement, let your heart beat go faster while you let the rhythm of the music guide you. The class starts as a gentle flow of repetitive moves to help the body get loose and get used to its owns natural rhythm and then starts building up as a slow, easy to follow choreography using yoga poses to create a flowy sequence.

Yoga for a Happy, Healthy Spine

A happy and healthy spine is the foundation of all our daily movements. Is your neck or back a little cranky sometimes? Do you feel tension and stress after sitting at work all day? Are you unsure of how to strengthen your core safely? Practice this safe and gentle class to relieve the tension and stress that is holding you back. An interesting blend of yoga poses, spine education, postural awareness, stretching, strengthening and breath work... all while decreasing your stress! This class is for everyone, even if you’ve never done yoga before.

Kristi is a native Vermonter with a compassionate heart, calming voice, and encouraging and uplifting spirit. She began practicing yoga at 48 years old and was astounded with the changes in her body, mind and spirit. She is not a “super flexible yoga person,” understands the crankiness that comes with aging, and utilizes props to make yoga possible for everyone. After 25 years of providing physical therapy, she pursued her 200 and advanced 300 yoga teacher training with Daniel Orlansky at Yoga of Energy Flow in the Boston area. Her diverse training included Alignment/Iyengar, Kundalini, Meridian, Yin, Restorative, Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra, Kali Ray Triyoga, Vinyasa and Qigong. She warmly welcomes you to join her in sharing this beautiful, ancient practice to find peace, tranquility, and strength to weather all the changes that life brings.

Hatha Yoga w/ Gretchen

- the balancing of sun and moon or heat and cooling - is a gentle practice that seeks to create union within the body and mind. This practice offers a combination of energizing, warming postures followed by slower, relaxing postures to tune into one’s inner light.

In addition to practicing a gentle flow, learn to incorporate various pranayama (movement of the life force through breath) and mantra (meditational sound) techniques. All body shapes, sizes and experience levels welcome to grow and flow together!  For questions and to pre-register, email Gretchen at gfkaija@gmail.com.

**We need 5 students in order to run this series, so please sign up!!!** Only $60 for 6 weeks!

Gretchen lives in Peacham and found the yoga practice six years ago. She completed her YTT 200-hour Hatha/Ashtanga certificate with Chandra Yoga School in Rishikesh, India. Gretchen enjoys how the yoga practice serves as an indicator of what the body, mind and heart each crave at various points in life. For this reason, she aims to incorporate all of the senses in her yoga teaching. When Gretchen is not on her mat, she is either in the kitchen baking bread, in the garden tending her tomatoes, or traveling with her sweet fiancé.
